Sam Porter, Gresham OR

Sam PorterSam, who attends Barlow High School, has her hands full while maintaining her 3.9 grade point average, remaining active in her youth group, and leading her soccer team to a conference championship this fall. Sam has also been voted the Mt. Hood Conference “Player of the Year”. Sam must do a lot of the balancing on her own as she lives away from her single mother in order to remain in the school district. While Sam’s mother commutes to work, she only has limited contact with her father who is a paralyzed victim of drug abuse. Sam dreams of one day becoming a nurse and doing missionary work around the world so as to help those in need.
